Jewel of the Rioja Biosphere
Once a summer hunting reserve for a noble Logroño family, Casa La Rad now stands as the largest single-property wine estate in Rioja.
Nestled in a biodiverse landscape of woodlands, meadows, olive groves, and vineyards, we cultivate old vines at high elevations in the Iberian Massif foothills—crafting distinctive estate-grown wines with a true sense of place.
About
Ecodiversity, Off the Beaten Path
Although Casa La Rad is the largest wine estate in Rioja, vineyards cover less than 15% of its 800 hectares.
The remaining 685 hectares of untouched old-growth woodland, olive groves, grain fields, and complementary agriculture, sustain a thriving, unspoiled ecosystem—enhancing vine health and promoting biodiversity.
Our terroir
Rocky Soils, Old Vines, High Elevations
More than 80% of our vineyard blocks are over 20 years old, with about one-fourth planted en vaso in the mid-1970s. These mature and old vines flourish in the cooling breezes at elevations of 515 to 675 meters above sea level. Our diverse soils and microclimates lay the foundation for wines of remarkable depth, complexity, and character.

Winemaking Excellence
Our state-of-the-art winery and exceptional barrel cellar, led by veteran winemaker Bárbara Palacios and her team, are dedicated to bringing out the purest expression of our terroir—transforming superb estate-grown fruit into wines of remarkable complexity and elegance.
